Half of Israelis Report Sleep and Anxiety Issues Post-Conflict

Half of Israelis are struggling with sleep, anxiety, and fatigue a month after the operation Rising Lion.

A new survey by Maccabi Healthcare Services reveals widespread negative effects on the physical and mental health of Israelis following the fighting in Gaza and the conflict with Iran.

  • 50% not getting enough sleep to function well (↑ from 33% in Feb).
  • 50% report less energy for daily challenges.
  • Half experience insomnia ≥ 2 nights/week (↑ from 37%).
  • 16% rate fatigue as severe/very severe.
  • 35% feel stress, fear, and anxiety; 22% experience fatigue; 18% have disrupted sleep.
  • 24% find it very hard to return to routine; 31% moderately hard.
  • Smokers: 63% increased cigarette use during the war.
  • 20% rate mental state as moderate/poor (↑ from 13% pre–October 7).
  • 30% now need mental health support (↑ from 18%).
  • 1 in 5 feel frequent sadness, hopelessness, or loss of interest.

👶 Children’s Impact:

  • 25% show worsening behavior (irritability, aggression, withdrawal).
  • 20% report mental health decline.
